Beirut for new year's

I've booked and planned my trip to beirut for the new year's (christmas break). I'm going with a couple of friends, looking forward, however i am slightly worried about the planning. The way i see it, if i don't plan something myself, it wont go good. If you happen to be a local, please share some ideas, even if you're not but have been there several times.
